Self-love is the key to unlocking the door to resilience. Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross provided perfect perspective on the notion of self-love by suggesting that it is the nourishment of our inner selves that comes from experiencing deeper meaning in life and connecting with our purpose rather than focusing on how society views us. It is foregoing unnecessary expectations that we have set for ourselves and joining with a more profound source of strength that helps us to see that life is about demonstrating character, moral fortitude, and connection with humanity.
Being able to find meaning in something that is greater than yourself promotes a state of contentment and freedom from fear that helps you to overcome anxiety so that you can ultimately express yourself without having to resort to food and other unhealthy ways of getting your emotional needs met. As Dr. Ross notes, this deeper life meaning is often associated with spirituality. Thus, when individuals are spiritually depleted, this can lead to changes in the brain, increasing the risk for depression and anxiety, which can lead to problems like binge eating, alcoholism, infidelity, etc. Below are the common signs of spiritual depletion:
To your health,
Hey there, guys. I just wanted to give you a quick update on some of the changes that are going to happening with the blog in the coming weeks. The first change, which you will see immediately is the new name of the blog. We are changing our blog into a vlog, and the new name is "She did it!" She Did It reflects a more global message of empowering women and moms than does "health levels." Health Levels is about one component of empowerment, whereas She Did It focuses on multiple areas of empowerment related to women's health, rights, accomplishments, and impact.
The blog/vlog will seek to tell more stories about influential women all over the world who have overcome all kinds of adversities by finding ways to empower themselves and emerge from a state of hopelessness to hopefulness so that they can give back and pay it forward to other women who are seeking that same type of quality of life.
The goal is two-fold: 1) To align the message with the global vision of empowering women all over the world to become self-healers and change agents, and 2) To provide a visual component, which I believe will inspire deeper connection by being able to see and hear the person producing the content. Not everyone loves to read, especially super busy moms and women, but most people wouldn't mind listening to or watching interesting content during down time.
So, in the coming weeks, look for video content instead of written content on the newly named share space. In the meantime, I will finish up the next couple of week with written content regarding my health journey, and then I will move on to the vlog.
So excited about what's coming. I will talk to you all in just a little bit.
À tout à l’heure
I am a healing artist, and I believe it is my mission to help other moms like me become masterful life synthesizers and empowered agents through the healing arts.
